Distribution of the last batch of computers at Pesi and Mutara

Laikipia and computersIn line with the increasing Computer literacy in Kenya.

Hon. Ndiritu, courtesy of Laikipia West CDF will be distributing a total of THIRTY (30) computers, Five (5) in each of the following secondary schools as one way of attaining millennium development goals through embracing ICT.

The clarion call of who is the cleverlest student in MutaraOn Wednesday 18th January 2012;

  1. Chereta Day
  2. Kangumo Day
  3. Ol Moran Day
  4. Lariak Day
  5. And on 19th, the following schools;

District Ovop Commitee members at RumurutiThe District Ovop committee held its meeting in Laikipia on 3rd,Feb 2012 at the Laikipia West District Commissioners Boardroom. The agendas of the meeting were to review the approaches and progress of the OVOP(One Village One Product) programme in Kenya and the way forward. Among those present were the Project Director Mr. Kimuri, Mr. Njihia of OVOP secretariat, Yoshiko Tachibana, the JICA small business expert, Heads of Department and the host DO 1 Mr. Henry Katana.

An official LWF explains what is feature in the documentaryLouise Leakey Auditorium, National Museums of Kenya is the place where Laikipia Wildlife Forum organized a cocktail and a movie premiere showcasing conservation led development of documentary Laikipia:

The Land of Life on January 27th, 2012.  The documentary was showcasing why

Laikipia is a model for community based conservation and development in Kenya and the world, portraying how people are working towards conserving their Wildlife and ecosystem integrity.

Alex Muthamia from NHIF registering new membersThe NHIF Campaign program continues, and on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 action was in Pesi Trading Centre to persuade constituents to register with NHIF.  A total of twenty new applicants registered to be members while many came for information. Old members were excited to learn the new system of submitting their monthly payments through M-PESA saying they are always busy in their horticulture farms where they hardly get time to visit NHIF Offices in Nyahururu.  They hailed the MP to have organized these kinds of forums to educate those people living in the rural set up.

Laikipia Unity Cup

This year the Laikipia Unity Cup is kicking off at the LWF regions in April 2012. The Uaso Narok Unit,  tournaments will take place in Sosian, Ol Maisor Primary School while the North Western Unit will hold their tournament at Kinamba, GG Kinamba Primary and Secondary Schools on 11th, 12th and 13th May 2012.

The tournaments are based on the following four (4) objectives;

  1. Environmental Conservation – teams derived from along eco systems
  2. Laikipia as Tourism destination
  3. Peace – where individuals from different communities make a team
  4. Health; by holding Medical Camps

Final matches will be held in Nanyuki Stadium on 21st – 24th May 2012. Samuel Eto’o the, Laikipia Unity Cup Patron will be present.

Simona Atzori giving a motivational talk.Simona Atzori is a household name in Nyahururu and its environs being the second time of her visit in less than two years.  The charming Simona was born without both hands in Italy 37 years ago in Italy, as she told the huge multitude in Core Site Nyahururu during the official blessing and opening of the second home “Betania” after Effatha under L’Arche Kenya where people with intellectual disabilities share life with those without who come to assist in family like environment.
