Locational CDF committee elections
Maina D.Wanjohi 29-12-09 14:11:33

Dear Hon.Nderitu,

Today,i attended and participated in Marmanet CDF elections
that left me very much impressed.

The elections were very fair(representing
different cross-sections of people),peaceful and quite democratic(wananchi were

allowed to ask questions).Above all,two positions were preserved
for
professionals!

We are headed in the right direction democratically.

To whom it may concern,

Kindly let me know whether the Marmanet forest
squatters got evicted from the forest?
Secondly,what strategies mheshimiwa and
the relevant govet depts have put in place towards the conservation of this
important
water-catchment area for Baringo/Lorian swamp drainage
basin?

Wanjohi,Ol-jabet.

people of Marmanet ward are experiencing drought, they have planted thrice this
year but their crops have not germinated. They need seeds to plant the coming
rainy season.are there plans to help them with seeds because they need this
assistance urgently. If yes When should they expect them,if no what are you going
to do about this issue?
marmanet eviction
Silas K. 01-09-09 05:38:18

Your silence on the marmanet forest eviction buffles me and does not help
anyone. Conservation is dear to my heart and I believe if this issue is
mishandled it could spell doom to many. Mheshimiwa, you should be at the
forefront advocating for eviction albeit with compensation. The land was sold
by a legitimate government and the sanctity of a title deed shuold be upheld.
Your take on this will either work for you or against you. You should however
not shy away from making informed decisions. Pliz reply
Marmanet forest eviction
NKARIUKI 02-09-09 01:50:54

Silas we as leaders resolved in the Leaders meeting last month and in the DCC
this week that all the illegal settlers in the forest have to leave.I n most of
the areas people are already doing it voluntarily and the rest will be evicted
this month. Most of the title deed people have are fake and only those with
legitimate titles will be left
Marmanet Forest Eviction
JOHN 03-09-09 03:36:28

Kariuki
Kudos to u and the DCC.
This exercise is long overdue and am one happy
person that atleast the forest will be back.
When do we get into the land and
start planting the trees.
Maybe a clearer road map would help us plan ourselves
and friends to restore the Glory that was intially there.
I beleive we shouldnt
compensate anyone.
People bought knowing it was illegal.
don
dr Peter waweru 31-10-09 13:46:32

Those calling for for the compensation of evictees form Marmanet forest are not
being honest.Forests were invaded illegally whether by what is being called
"legitimate government" or individuals. Kenyans must shun the issue of
"mali ya umma". "Umma is all of us. The drought being experienced
now is affecting all of us. If the Honourable MP will lose simply for defending
our environment for the good of posterity, so be it. We are tired of voters who
blackmail for their own selfish needs. YOU ARE SIMPLY RIGGING ELECTIONS
Marmanet forest
Silas 03-11-09 08:55:56

I totally disagree with dr Peter Waweru on this issue. I am a proponent of
conservation of forests but there are innocent people currently occupying the
Marmanet forest. I would'nt call their occupation illegal since that land was
sold to them by either the Moi or Kibaki governments. These two governments were
democratically elected and consequently legal. I dont see why he should be
against compensation. May be he should shed more light on that.
Muhotetu ward under-development.
Gibson G. Thimba 28-08-09 13:42:31

I would like to know how our latf funds have been used. Its now the 3rd
financial yr yet no progress regarding the roads, water and the likes of welfare
associations. It is so evident that the public LATRINE did not cost all the
funds for the 2 yrs because there is no other conspicuous project seen. Am realy
concerned and would like transparency to prevail and initiatives/
responsibilities to be the first weapon to the poor state here. When will change

insecurity in karandi
emejen 06-08-09 05:59:35

the security situation in laikipia west and karandi in particularly has
deteriorated.

increasing cases of killings and theft have led people in the
area not to concentrate on development.

the security apparatus in the
distrcit and in ngarua division is overstretched and thus overwhelemed by the
increasing cases of insecurity. people are no longer free to move around and
transact business in the area for fear of attach if not death.

the hon.
member of the area who is development conscious should act with haste in
addressing the security situation in the area if the current levels of
development are to be maintained and further growth achieved.

the situation
in karandi is of utmost importance.

watu wa karandi na tupande miti kwa
wingi.the time to act is now!

MARMANET FOREST EVICTION
JOHN 24-07-09 08:57:24

hI mHESHIMIWA.
We are hearing the government complain about the Mau
Forest.
Please let them know that Martmanet Catchment is no more.We are
suffering because of those illegal settlers who burnt down the forest and
settled there.
When will they be evicted?
From Karandi to Nyahururu.
This is
one of the water towers in the country.Marmanet Catchment.

Please leads us on
this direction.
MARMANET CATCHMENT AREA
Kariuki 24-07-09 11:25:32

If this case aws addressed in the year 2005 we wouldnt be suffering today as we
are.
Look at the attached statement from Kimunya when he was the lands
minister.

Marmanet Forest
Squatters to Be Evicted

The East African Standard (Nairobi)

July 1,
2005
Posted to the web June 30, 2005

Samuel Mburu
Nairobi

The next phase
of evictions from gazetted forests will be in Marmanet in Laikipia District,
Lands Minister Amos Kimunya has said.

He said the Government would remove
squatters from the forests in Laikipia once it is done with Mau
Forest.

Speaking during KTN's Newsline programme, the minister said the
squatters in Marmanet had resisted past attempts to demarcate the forest
boundary.

He said destruction of the water catchment area was alarming and
that rivers from the hills were drying up.

The minister said forests in Mt
Elgon and Marmanet had been...

ROAMING FAMINE / SECURITY
Stephen K. kamau 29-06-09 10:22:31

Thanks to the untiring efforts that the whole team is doing to empower the
people of Laikipia West. We have immediate concern over the failed rains and it
would be regrettable to be enlisted to recipients of relief food as Laikipia -
(Ng'arua and Marmanet) are known to be a Kenya's grain basket. The issue of
security should be addressed too as the drought will result to conflict between
the pastoralists and the farmers.
Famine & security
Hon. Ndiritu 30-06-09 04:05:09

Indeed Stephen. We are mobilising the community around planting short season
crops (there are some light rains in some areas), conserving both water &
available foods, and ensuring that every homestead has a kitchen garden (there
is no reason while farmers should be going to the market for onions and sukuma
for example).

And we need all the help we can get! So please join us.
VISIT TO GITHUNGURI DAIRIES
NDEGWA CM -Chairman Ujuzi na B 27-06-09 13:54:29

The visit to githunguri dairies by a section of farmers, business people teachers
and jua kali artisans from Laikipia west served as an eye opener and also a
challenge to our people. We realised that we have alot of unexploited resources
in our constituency.Githunguri dairies started with a membership of 31 and in
laikipia west we have almost similar groups with similar vision,oh!Cheremka
dairies, marmanet, millenium dairies and others ,lets emulate githunguri dairies
and am certain we shall get numerous organisations to come and help us.
Thanx
alot to our MHESHIMIWA Ndiritu muriithi for organising the exposure tour and
also MHSHIMIWA Njoroge Baiya for welcoming us and giving a lecture on a
succesful management and sustaining a reputable dairy firm.
Mr.
FRANCIS KAHUHA 26-06-09 10:34:19

Congratulations laikipia west for the good efforts you are doing to our
residents.Am glad to learn that we are heading somewhere but we are not happy
with the level of insecurity in this place. My big question is,WHAT ARE YOU
PEOPLE DOING TO ENSURE THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO FINISH HIGH SCHOOL WITH GOOD GRADES
DON'T LOSE?am learning that most students are coming from my constituency only
to come in Nairobi and suffer even having performed very well in school.pliz do
something.thankyou
