Ngarua Millers set for operation by March.

  • Print

This is the revelation that members got on the 6th of Feb 2010 when they attended an urgent meeting convened by their chairman Charles K. Njogu.

The long awaited news were welcomed by the 1,000 plus members who attended the meeting for they have patiently waited the realization of this dream from the year 2001.

The group started as a self help group and as time went by, it became apparent that it  should be registered as a cooperative.

With the assistance of the divisional cooperative officer Mr Chege and the DCO Mr Githuku, this broad move was successful.

As by now, an engineer of  the Chinese firm which sold the plant to the farmers is on site and eighty percent of plant assembly have been done.

To date the farmers have expended Kshs 7,000,000 in buying a three acre parcel of land on which the plant lies, building the facility and purchasing the plant.

Once started, the farmers from the region stand to benefit a lot by selling their produce to a milling plant of their own and the value addition proceeds will be ploughed back to the region.

DESIST FROM HOAXES/RUMOURS
Johnnie 07-05-10 10:15:00

The CDF has in the passed peddled rumours or what I may call hoaxes. On 17th Feb
you cheated us in your articled entitled "Ngarua millers set for operations
by March" This continue to reflect in this web. What is the date today?
From a layman point of view I was cheated together with other poeple
in this region.Peddling rumours that aroused the interest of the people only not
to meet it is not only criminal but also immoral.Kindly desist from putting
unconfirmed issues in this web.

This is a timely thing as farmers in the country wonder where to take the
plenteous harvest after the long rains.

Lets learn from our past mistakes and
forge ahead.

Let the Ng'arua Millers not be another white elephant in Laikipia
West.
congrats
